Mặc dù Mỹ không có quan hệ ngoại giao chính thức với vùng lãnh thổ Đài Loan, Trung Quốc (sau đây viết tắt là Đài Loan) nhưng hai bên luôn có sự hợp tác chặt chẽ trên nhiều lĩnh vực: kinh tế, khoa học - công nghệ, văn hóa, giáo dục, thể thao, giao lưu nhân dân.., đặc biệt là hợp tác quốc phòng. Hiện nay, do tác động những biến động của cục diện thế giới và khu vực cùng nhu cầu đảm bảo an ninh, hợp tác quốc phòng đã trở thành một trong những lĩnh vực hợp tác nổi bật nhất giữa Đài Loan và Mỹ. Bài viết phân tích một số nhân tố tác động, thực trạng hợp tác quốc phòng Đài Loan - Mỹ từ 2016-2023 trên lĩnh vực: huấn luyện đào tạo, mua bán vũ khí và hợp tác hải quân giữa hai bên, qua đó đưa ra một số đánh giá và nhận xét về hợp tác quốc phòng của Đài Loan và Mỹ.
